On Tuesday (2008/04/16) a delegation from the Open University of Malaysia (OUM) visited
Mehr Alborz University where by mutual cooperation in the fields of providing university
courses and joint e-learning programs for Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and
PhD where discussed. It was decided that both sides include the range of possible
areas of cooperation in a MOU. In this meeting Professor Anvar, the chancellor of
OUM, invited MAU to visit their campus in Kuala Lumpur in order to become more acquainted
with its programs and facilities.
The Open University of Malaysia was established in 2000 through the efforts of Prime
Minister Mohammad’s government. Since its establishment, OUM has expanded its activities
in the area of e-learning and has also participated in the international higher
educational scene by helping to establish the Open Arab University in Bahrain, a
virtual university in Saudi Arabia, and joint courses with Yemen. Currently OUM
maintains 15 undergraduate degree programs and 5 graduate degree programs.
